Or you may find the programs at a trade school or bootcamp to be a better alternative for you.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Grad Degree Search has created its Best Master's Degree Schools ranking. This report analyzed 1,033 schools in the United States to see which ones offered the best master's degree programs for students.

Our analysis found Keck Graduate Institute to be the best school for students who want to pursue a master’s degree in the United States.
Online graduate courses are available at KGI, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 4% took at least some of their classes online.
Out of the 1,033 schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the # 2 spot on the list.
Interested in an online degree? Then you definitely want to check out MIT. Every graduate student at the school took at least one class online.
A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Stanford University is a great place for students working on their master’s degree.

Duke University landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best master’s degree programs.

Northwestern University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Master’s Degree Schools ranking.

With a ranking of #9, Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their master’s degree.
Georgia Tech does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. During the 2019-2020 year, about 88% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
University of Notre Dame did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #10 on the list.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Notre Dame. In 2019-2020 about 45% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
University of Chicago landed the #11 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best master’s degree programs.
With a ranking of #12, Cornell University did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their master’s degree.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at Cornell. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 85% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Carnegie Mellon University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #13 on the list.

To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 6% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Brown University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #14 on the list.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Brown. In fact, around 59% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #15, University of Pennsylvania did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their master’s degree.
UPenn does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. In 2019-2020 about 74% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Teachers College at Columbia University ranked #16 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools list.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Teachers College does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 98% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
University of California - Berkeley ranked #17 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools list.
UC Berkeley does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 90% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #18, Santa Clara University did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their master’s degree.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at SCU. In fact, around 10% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #19, Georgetown University did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their master’s degree.

Vanderbilt University ranked #21 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools list.

Johns Hopkins University ranked #23 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools list.

Harvard University landed the #24 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best master’s degree programs.
