To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Music program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for music majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Our 2023 rankings named University of North Texas the most popular school in the Southwest Region for music students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the midsize city of Denton, UNT is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 47 students majoring in music at UNT, 55% are male and 45% are female.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Arizona State University - Tempe helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular music schools in the Southwest Region . ASU - Tempe is a very large public school located in the city of Tempe.

Women make up 49% of the music majors at the school.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at The University of Texas at Austin helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular music schools in the Southwest Region . UT Austin is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Austin.

About 31% of the students majoring in music at the school are women while 69% are male.
