Our analysis looked at 53 schools in the Southeast Region to see which doctor's degree programs were the most popular for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Engineering program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for engineering majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Our analysis found Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus to be the most popular school for engineering students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Southeast Region . Located in the large city of Atlanta, Georgia Tech is a public college with a very large student population.

Of the 379 students majoring in engineering at Georgia Tech, 73% are male and 27% are female.

Out of the 53 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, North Carolina State University landed the # 2 spot on the list. NC State is a very large public school located in the city of Raleigh.

About 29% of the students majoring in engineering at the school are women while 71% are male.

Blacksburg, VA

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Virginia Tech is a great place for engineering students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the city of Blacksburg, Virginia Tech is a public school with a very large student population.

About 27% of the students majoring in engineering at the school are women while 73% are male.

Gainesville, FL

Out of the 53 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Florida landed the # 4 spot on the list. UF is a very large public school located in the medium-sized city of Gainesville.

Women make up 24% of the engineering majors at the school.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at University of Central Florida helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular engineering schools in the Southeast Region . Located in the suburb of Orlando, UCF is a public school with a very large student population.

With a ranking of #6, The University of Tennessee - Knoxville did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for engineering students working on their doctor’s degree. UT Knoxville is a very large public school located in the medium-sized city of Knoxville.

Of the 111 students majoring in engineering at UT Knoxville, 72% are male and 28% are female.

With a ranking of #7, University of Virginia - Main Campus did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for engineering students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the small suburb of Charlottesville, University of Virginia is a public college with a fairly large student population.
