Our 2023 rankings named Dartmouth College the best school in the New England Region for music students. Dartmouth is a moderately-sized private not-for-profit school located in the remote town of Hanover.
Out of the 17 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Brandeis University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Brandeis is a moderately-sized private not-for-profit school located in the city of Waltham.

Yale University ranked #6 on this year’s Best Music Schools in the New England Region list. Yale is a large private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of New Haven.
Boston University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best schools for music students. It came in at #7 on the list. Boston U is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Boston.
With a ranking of #8, Longy School of Music of Bard College did quite well on this year’s best schools for music students. Located in the city of Cambridge, Longy is a private not-for-profit school with a small student population.
University of Rhode Island came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Music Schools in the New England Region ranking. URI is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Kingston.
University of New Hampshire - Main Campus did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best schools for music students. It came in at #10 on the list. Located in the suburb of Durham, UNH is a public college with a large student population.
