This report analyzed 42 schools in the Southeast Region to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Social Sciences program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for social sciences majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Durham, NC

Our analysis found Duke University to be the most popular school for social sciences students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Southeast Region . Duke is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Durham.

Of the 40 students majoring in social sciences at Duke, 70% are male and 30% are female.

University of Florida

Gainesville, FL

Out of the 42 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Florida landed the # 2 spot on the list. UF is a very large public school located in the medium-sized city of Gainesville.

Of the 36 students majoring in social sciences at UF, 36% are male and 64% are female.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of South Florida - Main Campus. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Social Sciences Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. USF Tampa is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Tampa.

Women make up 50% of the social sciences majors at the school.
