This report analyzed 22 schools in the New England Region to see which ones were the most popular master's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Economics program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Brandeis University the most popular school in the New England Region for economics students working on their master’s degree. Brandeis is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in the small city of Waltham.

Of the 163 students majoring in economics at Brandeis, 43% are male and 57% are female.

Boston, MA

The in-demand master’s degree programs at Boston University helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular economics schools in the New England Region . Boston U is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Boston.

Women make up 56% of the economics majors at the school.

Cambridge, MA

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Harvard University. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Popular Economics Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. Harvard is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of Cambridge.

About 37% of the students majoring in economics at the school are women while 63% are male.

A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Boston College is a great place for economics students working on their master’s degree. Located in the small city of Chestnut Hill, Boston College is a private not-for-profit college with a large student population.

With a ranking of #6, Yale University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for economics students working on their master’s degree. Yale is a large private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of New Haven.

Of the 39 students majoring in economics at Yale, 74% are male and 26% are female.

University of Massachusetts Amherst ranked #7 on this year’s Most Popular Economics Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. UMass Amherst is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Amherst.

Women make up 36% of the economics majors at the school.

Southern New Hampshire University came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Economics Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. Located in the midsize suburb of Manchester, SNHU is a private not-for-profit school with a very large student population.

University of Connecticut did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for economics students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list. UCONN is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Storrs.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Economics Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. Located in the medium-sized city of Cambridge, MIT is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.
