Our 2023 rankings named Duke University the most popular school in the Southeast Region for physics students working on their master’s degree. Located in the large city of Durham, Duke is a private not-for-profit college with a large student population.

Out of the 55 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, North Carolina State University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the large city of Raleigh, NC State is a public school with a fairly large student population.

About 20% of the students majoring in physics at the school are women while 80% are male.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for physics students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #6 on the list. Located in the city of Chapel Hill, UNC Chapel Hill is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 12 students majoring in physics at UNC Chapel Hill, 67% are male and 33% are female.
