Our analysis found University of Arizona to be the best school for physics students who want to pursue a degree in the Southwest Region . Located in the large city of Tucson, University of Arizona is a public school with a fairly large student population.
Out of the 16 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Austin landed the # 2 spot on the list. UT Austin is a very large public school located in the large city of Austin.
The excellent programs at Baylor University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best physics schools in the Southwest Region . Baylor is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of Waco.

Texas A&M University - College Station came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Best Physics Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Located in the midsize city of College Station, Texas A&M College Station is a public school with a fairly large student population.
With a ranking of #8, University of North Texas did quite well on this year’s best schools for physics students. Located in the city of Denton, UNT is a public college with a very large student population.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Physics Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. UT Rio Grande Valley is a fairly large public school located in the midsize city of Edinburg.
