Our 2023 rankings named Duke University the most popular school in the Southeast Region for natural resources conservation students working on their master’s degree. Duke is a large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Durham.
Of the 132 students majoring in conservation at Duke, 31% are male and 69% are female.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means North Carolina State University is a great place for natural resources conservation students working on their master’s degree. NC State is a fairly large public school located in the city of Raleigh.
Women make up 54% of the conservation majors at the school.
Out of the 41 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Virginia - Main Campus landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in the small suburb of Charlottesville, University of Virginia is a public college with a very large student population.

The in-demand master’s degree programs at College of Charleston helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular natural resources conservation schools in the Southeast Region . Located in the midsize city of Charleston, C of C is a public school with a fairly large student population.
Of the 28 students majoring in conservation at C of C, 39% are male and 61% are female.
