To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Mathematics program at each school on the list.

Our analysis found Florida State University to be the most popular school for mathematics students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Southeast Region . Florida State is a very large public school located in the midsize city of Tallahassee.

Of the 21 students majoring in math at Florida State, 86% are male and 14% are female.

Out of the 29 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the city of Chapel Hill, UNC Chapel Hill is a public school with a fairly large student population.

About 6% of the students majoring in math at the school are women while 94% are male.

The University of Tennessee - Knoxville did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for mathematics students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list.
