Our analysis found Vanderbilt University to be the best school for public health students who want to pursue a degree in the Southeast Region . Vanderbilt is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Nashville.
Out of the 82 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Wake Forest University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Wake Forest University is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in the city of Winston-Salem.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Virginia Tech. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Best Public Health Schools in the Southeast Region list. Located in the city of Blacksburg, Virginia Tech is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Eastern Virginia Medical School ranked #7 on this year’s Best Public Health Schools in the Southeast Region list. Eastern Virginia Medical School is a small public school located in the medium-sized city of Norfolk.
With a ranking of #8, Duke University did quite well on this year’s best schools for public health students. Duke is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Durham.
With a ranking of #9, Campbell University did quite well on this year’s best schools for public health students. Campbell is a moderately-sized private not-for-profit school located in the fringe town of Buies Creek.
With a ranking of #10, Medical University of South Carolina did quite well on this year’s best schools for public health students. Located in the city of Charleston, MUSC is a public school with a small student population.
