To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Grad Degree Search has developed this Most Popular Engineering Master's Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. This report analyzed 29 schools in the New England Region to see which ones were the most popular master's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Engineering program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for engineering majors pursuing a master's degree.

Our 2023 rankings named Northeastern University the most popular school in the New England Region for engineering students working on their master’s degree. Located in the large city of Boston, Northeastern is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population.

Of the 1,856 students majoring in engineering at Northeastern, 69% are male and 31% are female.

Out of the 29 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the midsize city of Cambridge, MIT is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

Women make up 35% of the engineering majors at the school.

Out of the 29 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Worcester Polytechnic Institute landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in the city of Worcester, WPI is a private not-for-profit school with a moderately-sized student population.

Of the 384 students majoring in engineering at WPI, 77% are male and 23% are female.

Boston University

Boston, MA

A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Boston University is a great place for engineering students working on their master’s degree. Boston U is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Boston.

Of the 303 students majoring in engineering at Boston U, 65% are male and 35% are female.

Out of the 29 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Massachusetts - Lowell landed the # 5 spot on the list. UMass Lowell is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Lowell.

Of the 287 students majoring in engineering at UMass Lowell, 81% are male and 19% are female.

With a ranking of #6, Harvard University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for engineering students working on their master’s degree. Harvard is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the medium-sized city of Cambridge.

Of the 214 students majoring in engineering at Harvard, 66% are male and 34% are female.

West Haven, CT

University of New Haven landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree engineering programs. University of New Haven is a moderately-sized private not-for-profit school located in the suburb of West Haven.

Of the 167 students majoring in engineering at University of New Haven, 76% are male and 24% are female.

Dartmouth College

Hanover, NH

Dartmouth College came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. Dartmouth is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in the town of Hanover.

Of the 156 students majoring in engineering at Dartmouth, 67% are male and 33% are female.

University of Connecticut came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region ranking. UCONN is a very large public school located in the large suburb of Storrs.

About 26% of the students majoring in engineering at the school are women while 74% are male.

Northeastern University Professional Advancement Network did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for engineering students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #10 on the list. Located in the large city of Boston, Northeastern University Professional Advancement Network is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

Women make up 57% of the engineering majors at the school.
