Alternatively, you may choose a trade school that prepares you to enter the workforce with knowledge in a specific field.

To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Grad Degree Search has developed this Best Value Engineering Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region ranking. Our analysis looked at 13 schools in the Rocky Mountains Region to see which programs offered the best value experiences for engineering students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.

Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.

In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Top 10 Best Engineering Schools

Our 2023 rankings named Brigham Young University - Provo the best value school in the Rocky Mountains Region for engineering students. Located in the medium-sized city of Provo, BYU is a private not-for-profit school with a very large student population.

BYU undergraduate students pay an average of $6,120 in tuition and fees each year.

In addition to its best value ranking, and one of the reasons why the school is on the list, BYU is ranked #3 for overall quality for engineering in the Rocky Mountains Region .

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Montana Technological University is a great value for engineering students. Montana Tech is a small public school located in the remote town of Butte.

Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Montana Tech are $22,509 per year.

Out of the 13 schools in the Rocky Mountains Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Wyoming landed the # 3 spot on the list. UW is a fairly large public school located in the town of Laramie.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend University of Utah. The school came in at #4 on this year’s Best Value Engineering Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region list. U of U is a fairly large public school located in the city of Salt Lake City.

The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at U of U are $28,345 a year.

The school came in at #4 on this year’s Best Value Engineering Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region list. CU Anschutz is a fairly large public school located in the city of Denver.

University of Colorado Boulder landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value engineering programs. CU - Boulder is a fairly large public school located in the medium-sized city of Boulder.

The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at CU - Boulder are $38,358 a year.
