To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Grad Degree Search has developed this Best Value Engineering Schools in New York ranking. This report analyzed 14 schools in New York to see which ones offered the best value programs for engineering students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Top 10 Best Engineering Schools
Our 2023 rankings named Binghamton University the best value school in New York for engineering students. Binghamton University is a fairly large public school located in the medium-sized suburb of Vestal.

Out of the 14 schools in New York that were part of this year’s ranking, University at Buffalo landed the # 2 spot on the list. University at Buffalo is a very large public school located in the large suburb of Buffalo.

The excellent programs at Cornell University helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the best engineering schools in New York. Located in the city of Ithaca, Cornell is a private not-for-profit school with a very large student population.

Stony Brook University landed the #6 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value engineering programs. Located in the suburb of Stony Brook, SUNY Stony Brook is a public school with a fairly large student population.

Clarkson University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value schools for engineering students. It came in at #7 on the list. Clarkson is a small private not-for-profit school located in the remote town of Potsdam.

Clarkson excels when it comes to quality. It’s ranked in the top 20% of all schools on our Best Engineering Schools in New York list.
Alfred University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value schools for engineering students. It came in at #8 on the list. Alfred is a small private not-for-profit school located in the town of Alfred.
