Also, there are a number of trade schools with offerings that you might find attractive.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Grad Degree Search has created its Best Value Engineering Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. Our analysis looked at 35 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which programs offered the best value experiences for engineering students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.

Our analysis found Villanova University to be the best value school for engineering students who want to pursue a degree in the Middle Atlantic Region . Villanova is a large private not-for-profit school located in the large suburb of Villanova.

Out of the 35 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Lehigh University landed the # 4 spot on the list. Lehigh is a moderately-sized private not-for-profit school located in the city of Bethlehem.

A rank of #5 on this year’s list means Manhattan College is a great value for engineering students. Located in the city of Riverdale, Manhattan is a private not-for-profit college with a small student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Manhattan are $47,220 per year.
Cornell University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value schools for engineering students. It came in at #6 on the list. Cornell is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Ithaca.

Cornell not only placed well in our value ranking, but it is also #3 on our Best Engineering Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
Gannon University landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value engineering programs. Located in the city of Erie, Gannon is a private not-for-profit college with a small student population.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Gannon are $35,541 a year.
Gannon also claimed a spot on our Best Engineering Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. It’s in the top 20% of all schools in this category.
George Washington University ranked #8 on this year’s Best Value Engineering Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Located in the large city of Washington, GWU is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

University of Maryland - College Park did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value schools for engineering students. It came in at #9 on the list. Located in the suburb of College Park, UMCP is a public college with a very large student population.

In addition to its great value ranking, UMCP is in the top 10% of all schools on our Best Engineering Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
With a ranking of #10, University of Maryland - Baltimore County did quite well on this year’s best value schools for engineering students. Located in the suburb of Baltimore, UMBC is a public college with a fairly large student population.
UMBC undergraduate students pay an average of $28,470 in tuition and fees each year.
