To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the General Education program at each school on the list.

Our analysis found Nova Southeastern University to be the most popular school for general education students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Southeast Region . Located in the large suburb of Fort Lauderdale, NUS Florida is a private not-for-profit college with a very large student population.

Women make up 77% of the education majors at the school.

Out of the 20 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Central Florida landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the suburb of Orlando, UCF is a public school with a fairly large student population.

Of the 34 students majoring in education at UCF, 26% are male and 74% are female.

Fairfax, VA

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means George Mason University is a great place for general education students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the large suburb of Fairfax, GMU is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Women make up 59% of the education majors at the school.

University of Mississippi

University, MS

Out of the 20 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Mississippi landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in the remote town of University, Ole Miss is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 27 students majoring in education at Ole Miss, 52% are male and 48% are female.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Virginia Commonwealth University helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular general education schools in the Southeast Region . Located in the midsize city of Richmond, VCU is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 23 students majoring in education at VCU, 13% are male and 87% are female.

Huntington, WV

Marshall University landed the #6 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree general education programs. Marshall University is a large public school located in the city of Huntington.

Of the 17 students majoring in education at Marshall University, 35% are male and 65% are female.

University of Virginia - Main Campus did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for general education students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list. Located in the small suburb of Charlottesville, University of Virginia is a public school with a very large student population.

Women make up 81% of the education majors at the school.

With a ranking of #8, University of Southern Mississippi did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for general education students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the small city of Hattiesburg, Southern Miss is a public school with a large student population.

About 62% of the students majoring in education at the school are women while 38% are male.
